Hacker from “Lapsus$” steals clips of upcoming GTA 6 game

Arion Kurtaj, an Oxford native who is eighteen years old and diagnosed with a severe case of autism, is a key player in the global hacking group Lapsus$, according to a recent BBC investigation. Cyber assaults are a common occurrence for IT giants like Uber, Nvidia, and Rockstar Games, which have resulted in damages exceeding $10 million.

Kurtaj was adamant about carrying out cybercrimes even after being arrested and put on trial for hacking Nvidia, a manufacturer of video cards used frequently for mining Bitcoin. As a result, the judge ordered him to spend time in a safe hospital that is devoid of hacking equipment.

Even having his laptop seized, he carried out his most well-known hack while still under police protection and lodging at a Travelodge motel. Kurtaj used an Amazon Firestick and a smartphone to get past the security measures of Rockstar Games, the company that makes the well-known Grand Theft Auto video game, via a TV screen in his hotel room. He was able to obtain about one hundred footage from the upcoming Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 and post them on an online forum. Prior to that, he sent a threat to the internal Slack channel of the organisation, threatening to leak the source code unless they got in touch with him.
