Two blockchain ecosystems will make claims to their own domain zones in the ICANN application window that will open soon. Decentralised networks Viction (previously TomoChain) and Shiba Inu (SHIB), in collaboration with D3 industry pioneers, will introduce DNS substitutes for their respective communities.

Shiba Inu (SHIB), Viction (VIC) to launch domain name systems, D3 fuels solutions

Innovative domain name platform D3 Global, which creates digital identities that are compatible with each other, has announced significant partnerships with the blockchains of Viction (VIC) and Shiba Inu (SHIB). Both groups will have the opportunity to apply for and be granted the top-level domains (TLDs).vic and.shib.

D3’s notion of interoperable digital identities is expected to facilitate the introduction of opportunities for the Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Viction (VIC) ecosystems to new audiences, as well as to allow secure, universal access to their services.

The goal of D3’s strategy is to eliminate the most harmful shortcomings in the present DNS systems, such as fraud, data loss, brand confusion, and missing essential features.

D3’s CEO, Fred Hsu, emphasised the significance of the partnership with the two platforms for the company’s goals and the uptake of decentralised DNS tools:

In order to provide actual domains to each team’s ecosystem, we are thrilled to collaborate with the Shiba Inu and Viction teams. With DNS as the cornerstone, we want to create future-proof, interoperable digital identities that will make Web3 more transparent, scalable, safe, and accessible.

As previously reported by U.Today, D3 raised $5 million in September 2023 from a number of well-known venture capital firms, such as Shima Capital, Lightshift, Dispersion Capital, VentureSouq, Infinite Capital, MZ Web3 Fund, Nonagon, C² Ventures, and others.

Bridging gap between DNS tech and Web3

Lead Shiba Inu developer Shytoshi Kusama is enthusiastic about the potential implications of this move for SHIB community management and retail adoption:

Through our collaboration with D3, we are able to go beyond the current ShibArmy and provide direct access to the SHIB ecosystem for over 5 billion users of the Internet. It’s significant that SHIB is now offering genuine domains as it will enable long-term income creation within the ecosystem and further our ambition for digital identities inside our decentralised ecosystem.

Through collaborations with top blockchain ecosystems, D3 will quicken the shift to “real Web3 domains” and contemporary digital IDs by using the decades of combined industry knowledge of its team in DNS and Web3 technologies.

Fans of the Viction (VIC) and Shiba Inu (SHIB) ecosystems can register for the early access programme on December 20.
