Perhaps even more harmful than insignificant “double-your-deposit” airdrops and fictitious reward distributions from Elon Musk is a new fraud effort that is already gaining steam. Exploiting victims’ “fear of missing out,” malefactors let victims to see how much they could have made if they had been “diamond hands.”
SHIB holders yet again attacked by scammers
Scammers apparently developed many websites in early December 2023 that show the potential PnL of this or that Shiba Inu (SHIB) bearer. These websites are marketed as tools for assessing possible advantages from the extreme volatility of certain currencies.

Users are prompted to authorise their on-chain wallets on a number of websites designed by the same scammer gang (their domain names are either slightly changed or made using homoglyphs). Bots are circulating screenshots on social media that feature hundreds of millions of eye-catching “paper PnL.”
It goes without saying that a holder may instantly lose all of their money if they authorise their wallet on the website.
This fraud effort is riskier because of two factors. First, it is advertised through the official X channels. Newsfeeds of cryptocurrency fans display it with a “Ad” designation.
In addition to employing bots, malefactors are also making use of hundreds of compromised accounts, most of which belonged to actual users who had never posted anything regarding cryptocurrencies before they were compromised.
Thankfully, teams from the biggest wallets, such as MetaMask and Phantom, have already highlighted a few of the malefactors’ websites.
Who else is at risk?
Because of this, visitors are unable to access these websites using popular browsers.
Scammers mostly target owners of meme coins: On X, announcements for memetic coins like GROK, DOGE, BOB, PEPE, and others were registered.
Nonetheless, certain digital currencies, such as UNI from Uniswap and CVX from Convex Finance, are also utilised in fraudulent advertisements.
The price of the Shiba Inu (SHIB) is now $0.000008414, up 2% over the previous day.
