The person of Dogecoin, Shibetoshi Nakamoto, expressed interest in Argentina using DOGE as its reserve currency in a recent article.
The outlandish comment was made in the midst of conversations sparked by the election of Javier Milei as the new president of Argentina. Milei has promised drastic economic reforms, such as closing the Central Bank and making the US dollar the only currency.
The developer thought the idea was humorous, saying, “It would be kind of funny if Argentina took up Dogecoin as its reserve currency,” even though he made it clear that he was not supporting the idea.

He even continued by drawing a comparison between Dogecoin’s stability and that of the Argentine peso, pointing out that the cryptocurrency inspired by memes had become more stable in recent times, but also jokingly admitting its well-known instability in earlier years.
Nakamoto’s reflections make sense in light of Argentina’s economic unrest and President Milei’s outlandish ideas. Milei appears to have other intentions for the Argentine peso, which is why the founder of Dogecoin decided to join the speculative discourse in a lighthearted manner.
Aside from this, Nakamoto disregarded efforts to forecast Dogecoin’s future, particularly in light of its remarkable ascent in 2021 after being featured on Saturday Night Live (SNL). The developer quipped, “I think anyone who predicts anything about cryptocurrency is a fool,” underscoring the unpredictability of the virtual asset market.
