Bitcoin Reformation Author Tuur Demeester: Ethereum (ETH) Founders Lied About Scaling

Bitcoin

The most prominent Bitcoin development company, Blockstream, is advised by legendary Bitcoiner Tuur Demeester of Adamant Research, who claims that Ethereum (ETH) developers lied about the L1’s scaling potential. Here’s why the idea of proto-danksharding doesn’t excite any other cryptocurrency specialists.

Stealthy pivot instead of scaling L1: Tuur Demeester slams Ethereum (ETH) devs

The second-largest blockchain, Ethereum (ETH), has had a history of lying about its scalability potential. According to Mr. Demeester’s latest tweet, every project in this area was truly a “on-chain scaling narrative.”

As a result, any statements regarding scaling ideas for Ethereum (ETH) outside of L2 solutions were just made to “pump-and-dump” the price of Ether, a cryptocurrency used on the Ethereum (ETH) network.

Tuur Demeester supported James Prestwitch, one of the creators of the Storj (STORJ) protocol, in his scepticism with this post. According to Mr. Prestwitch, the strategy for on-chain scaling changed from the “original” sharding method to a “block-as-a-shard” technique that eliminates the need for third-party developers to perform any further work.

Demeester emphasised that Bitcoiners (BTC) invest “years” towards developing practical second-layer solutions.

As previously reported by U.Today, Ethereum (ETH) core developers recently gave their approval for the Cancun-Deneb upgrade to be activated in the fourth quarter of 2023.

The upgrade aims to boost Ethereum (ETH) using proto-danksharding, a resource-effective technique for enhancing data logistics.

What about Bitcoin’s (BTC) L2s?

The goal of Cancun-Deneb (or Cancun) is to reduce the computational expenses for all Ethereum (ETH) L2s and hence improve the blockchain’s rollup capabilities.

While most Bitcoiners (BTC) agreed with Demeester’s viewpoint, some of his supporters chose to retaliate. They started questioning him on the popularity of Lightning Network, the most well-liked L2 scaling option for Bitcoin (BTC) on payment channels, right away.

It was emphasised by Ethan Kravitz of AGE Crypto Asset Investment Funds that LN has not yet seen widespread adoption:

Since at least 2017, Bitcoiners have been pumping Lightning. It’s still useless, but it appears like Lightspark is working to solve that.

LN was referred to as a “coming-soon” protocol with a cap of 100 users by some of Demeester’s detractors.
