
AMC CEO Adam Aron doesn’t know what role cryptocurrencies will play in the company
During a recent interview with Fox Business, Adam Aron, CEO of movie theater giant AMC, said that his company had to “watch and see” whether or not it would be able to take advantage of embracing cryptocurrencies:
Only time will tell how big the cryptocurrency is.
As reported by U.Today, Aron recently announced that AMC would start accepting Shiba Inu and Dogecoin, the two largest meme cryptocurrencies, later this March.
The cinema chain, which operates 1,004 theaters in 15 countries,
Aron says that Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal payments already account for roughly 50% of the total online ticketing.
The AMC boss reiterated plans for the company to issue its own cryptocurrency, but the plan is still on hold.
He notes that the regulatory framework around cryptocurrencies is changing at a rapid pace, stressing that the prominent chain is focused on complying with every existing regulatory guidance:
AMC, as a company, has always wanted to stay far away from the fighting side of the law.
The movie theater chain is riding high on the success of “The Batman,” which has nabbed a $129 million domestic debut. AMC accounted for roughly a third of the superhero movie’s ticket sales.

AMC customers can finally buy tickets with several major cryptocurrencies
AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron announced that the movie giant is now accepting Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash for ticket purchases after months of teasing.
Aron also adds that Dogecoin will be the next cryptocurrency added by the movie giant.
Additionally, the 67-year-old CEO recently confirmed that AMC will also add Shiba inu, another popular joke cryptocurrency with a rapidly growing community.
The world’s largest movie theater chain initially announced plans to start accepting Bitcoin in early August.
In mid-September, Aron also tweeted about the company’s plan to add several major altcoins before posting Twitter polls on Dogecoin and Shiba Inu.
AMC has also enabled support for Google Pay and ApplePay as well as Paypal on its website and mobile app.
At the beginning of October, AMC allowed its customers to buy electronic gift cards with several cryptocurrencies, including Dogecoin.
Despite a better-than-expected earnings report, AMC stock fell 17% this week before rebounding slightly on Thursday. According to a recent regulatory filing, Aron recently sold $ 25 million worth of shares.
