With the launch of the Polygon Governance Hub, which will act as a community user interface and full-stack governance system, Polygon (MATIC) has accomplished a significant step towards community ownership.
The Polygon Governance Hub, developed in partnership with Aragon, gives users and developers the ability to shape the fundamental advancements of Polygon technology and imbue it with communal principles.
A framework for Polygon’s decentralised, community-led governance has been developed over the past year with input from the Polygon community. The three main pillars, or governance aspects, are Protocol Governance, System Smart Contract (SSC) Governance, and Community Treasury Governance.

Two of Polygon Governance’s three pillars—protocol governance and system smart contracts (SSC) governance—will be the emphasis of the Hub’s initial iteration.
It is recommended that some elements of the Polygon Governance Hub be put into practice gradually over the coming months. The Polygon Governance Hub is open to iterative feedback and new ideas from the community at every step of development. Aragon will construct the Hub piece by piece.
When complete, the Polygon Gov Hub will function as an open interface for all decision-making processes involving smart contracts within the Polygon system, encompassing tasks like information gathering and voting.
Further good news for the Polygon (MATIC) ecosystem is that grant funding of 1,000,000,000 POL has been made available for the next ten years. For the inaugural season of the Community Grants Programme, a total of 35 million MATIC have been set aside to finance initiatives on Ethereum and Polygon.
