Dogecoin (DOGE) Hits New Transaction Record, but There’s Big Catch

Dogecoin

A member of the Dogecoin community named @Tdogewhisperer used the X social media site, which was formerly known as Twitter, to announce that the original meme coin has achieved a new record of 1.9 million transactions in a single day.

DOGE transfers hit new high, but here’s issue

According to @Tdogewhisperer, “images inscribed on the blockchain,” or NFTs, are essentially responsible for this high being attained. Often, inscriptions are a network bloat, with no real use case. He continued by saying that several have suggested using Dogechain, a Layer 2 network, for those transactions.

It appears that the DOGE community is divided between people who think these photos are spam or bloatware, and people who think they look like NFTs.

The previously stated X user also reported that a file’s maximum size that can be sent across the Dogecoin chain had increased rapidly, reaching 110 gigabytes. @Tdogewhisperer stated that “it could eventually limit users from running their own nodes” if this rise keeps up. This kind of action would increase the cost of hosting a single node and slow down the network as a whole when it is not being used to transport photos but rather more valuable content.

It’s crucial to maintain this blockchain running and nodes simple to host since most users view DOGE as money and utilise it for this reason (rather than sharing files or encoding photos).

Max Keiser slams DOGE, invites Elon Musk to El Salvador

In two tweets published on Friday, Bitcoin maximalist Max Keiser poked fun at Dogecoin, calling it an s-coin and a security, echoing his previous criticisms of XRP, SOL, ADA, and other well-known altcoins.

He stated that it is against the law to trade DOGE unless it is registered as a security in El Salvador, where Keiser resides and serves as president Nayib Bukele’s counsellor on Bitcoin (this nation-state declared Bitcoin to be a national currency in 2020). Keiser also extended an invitation to Elon Musk, the greatest and richest backer in the world, to visit El Salvador and see what potential this nation has to offer.

For the time being, El Salvador is accepting donations in the amount of $1 million in Bitcoin or Tether in exchange for foreign passports.
