Dogecoin Founder Issues Critical AI Warning to Community

Billy Markus, also known on the X app as “Shibetoshi Nakamoto,” co-created the first and most well-known meme currency, DOGE, in 2013 alongside Jackson Palmer. Recently, he spoke to X to discuss potential drawbacks for AI use in the near future.

Ironically, Billy Markus posted anything on X that should serve as a “warning” to the whole X community—including his 2.1 million personal followers.

In his post, Markus expressed his belief that “some of your online friends will just turn out to be ai chat bots” in the not too distant future. Markus used to be an enthusiastic user of the X app and was also well-known on Twitter for his quick, witty tweets that touched on a wide range of topics, such as politics and taxation. His tweets are frequently jokes or memes.

Markus is another one of Elon Musk’s most vocal supporters. Elon Musk stated that purchasing Twitter for $44 billion in October of last year was all part of his plan to protect free speech, which included rebranding the company as X and significantly expanding the tools available for creating and monetizing content.

This time around, though, it appears he is not overly optimistic about the anticipated rapid development of AI in general and chatbots in particular.

Markus was also watching the just concluded drama over Open AI with interest. He made jesting remarks like how he thought Netflix will make a movie on Open AI or that “OpenAI should merge with FTX.” The whole user base of the X app was seeing the situation reverse as though it were a fantastic action film.

On November 20, Elon Musk tweeted that “the ratings on the OpenAI Telenovela are off the hook.” This business gained notoriety for developing ChatGPT and publishing many versions of it.

Musk said in a tweet following his acquisition of Twitter that he was switching from cryptocurrency to artificial intelligence (AI) and called OpenAI’s ChatGPT “woke.” He vowed to launch a competitor AI business in exchange for the opportunity to develop his own AI chatbot, which he achieved this year and unveiled as the Grok AI bot on the X platform.

Happy ending of Open AI drama

Following the removal of Open AI’s founder and CEO Sam Altman from his role and president Greg Brockman’s resignation in a show of unity, both men received an offer to lead Microsoft’s new AI division, a significant Open AI investor.

CTO of Open AI After taking over as CEO, Mira Murati made the decision to reassign Altman and Brockman to their new, high-level roles. At last, almost every worker in the firm vowed to resign if the board of directors resigned and Altman and Brockman were reinstated.

Ultimately, Altman was reinstated as chief executive and the two previously mentioned executives were employed again.

In a recent X discussion, Altman said that Open AI’s purpose and best interests will always come first. Although he acknowledged that he and the managing board had a number of significant misunderstandings, he stressed the need for Altman to “learn from this experience and apply those learnings as we move forward as a company.” He also applauds the board’s impartial assessment of all that has transpired lately.
