The University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI), one of the key operational efforts of the American blockchain payments company Ripple Labs Inc., has reached significant milestones. 50 partners have reportedly joined the programme since it was established with a $50 million charitable pledge, according to Ripple Labs.
The report states that the academic research programme utilising blockchain technology has supported the publication of over 1,000 research publications and presentations in addition to awarding 590 fellowships and scholarships. The UBRI programme is now running in six different continents.
Ripple Labs began as a startup that focused primarily on blockchain payments but has now broadened and diversified as a result of its impressive success. One of the main methods to give back to the community while supporting the advancement of new technologies is through the UBRI.
In the near future, blockchain adoption is expected to accelerate, and Ripple is sure that functional research will be a key driver of this movement. The company acknowledged that some prestigious colleges have already launched their blockchain and Web 3.0-focused programmes as a result of their participation in the UBRI.
Positioning itself as a force for good
Ripple is putting a lot of effort into being a force for good, despite the fact that the company’s legal dispute with the Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States (SEC) looks to be an attempt to divert attention. The company is considering a foray into the real estate Industry, as previously reported by U.Today.
Antony Welfare, a Ripple CBDC adviser, affirmed the ambitions to accelerate the tokenization of the real estate industry and talked about the parallels between how the innovation would embrace CBDCs from central banks.
Despite the litigation and its repercussions, members of the Ripple community seem delighted with the company’s most recent developments.
